Celebrating over 10 years of triathlon on the shores of the Mediterranean, Challenge Salou-Costa Daurada features a fast bike course along closed highways and running along palm tree-lined boulevards.
Challenge Salou is a celebrated middle-distance triathlon held each May on Spain’s Costa Daurada. It features a 1.9 km swim in the calm Mediterranean, a fast, flat 90 km bike on mostly closed roads, and a 21 km run along lively, palm-lined boulevards. It attracts athletes from around the world with options for short and relay distances, a festive race weekend with family-friendly events, and vibrant local support.
Salou is a vibrant Mediterranean resort offering golden sandy beaches, warm sunshine, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. It is within easy reach of Barcelona El Prat international airport with train and bus connections, or roughly a 1.5-hour drive by car.
The official race hotel is Hotel Blaumar, just metres from the race village and super convenient for race morning. There is also a host of other accommodation throughout Salou, from luxury apartments to budget hotels.
Swim: Two-lap 1.9 km swim off main Salou beach with shallow waters and views reaching Delta de l'Ebre and Serra de la Mussara. Bike: Three-lap bike course running along closed highways. Run: Fast, flat four-lap run course along the beachfront boulevard.
The two-lap 1.9 km swim is off the spectacular main Salou beach, with shallow waters and with views that reach the Delta de l’Ebre and the Serra de la Mussara.
The three-lap bike course runs along a closed highway on which you will be surprised by the average speed reached. The course was voted Challenge Family Best Bike Course in 2024.
Set on the fast, flat boulevard along the beachfront, you’ll discover the charm of the Costa Daurada and the warmth of the many spectators along the four-lap run course.
