Comrades Marathon
About the race
The Comrades Marathon, known as "The Ultimate Human Race" and "The Greatest Story Ever Run," celebrates its 100th edition on Sunday, 13 June 2027.
The event incorporates the Amabeadibeadi Charity Drive, supporting official cause partners including Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC), SANParks Honorary Rangers, Community Chest Durban & Pietermaritzburg, Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust (HACT), Rise Against Hunger (RAH), and Childline KwaZulu-Natal.

The course
The 2027 Comrades Marathon is a Down Run starting in Pietermaritzburg and finishing at the Kings Park Rugby Precinct in Durban. The race distance is expected to be approximately 91 km, with the official distance to be confirmed after final course measurement.

Pietermaritzburg is the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, in green, hilly country about an hour inland from Durban, and the finish of the Comrades Marathon route, one of the world's best-known ultramarathons. The climate is mild with summer rain: summers (December to February) are warm and wet with afternoon storms, winters (June to August) are cool and dry with cold nights, and spring and autumn are comfortable. Autumn to spring is the best time to race. It is reached by road from Durban and Johannesburg.
