City insight: Auckland
Auckland is New Zealand's largest city, built across two harbours with volcanic cones, beaches and many waterfront running routes. The climate is mild and changeable: summers (December to February) are warm and humid, autumn (March to May) is mild and settled, winters (June to August) are cool and wet, and spring (September to November) is fresh and windy. Summer and early autumn are the most reliable racing seasons, though showers can appear at any time. The sea is cool for swimming outside summer. The city has an international airport.
