Darjeeling is a hill station in West Bengal at about 2,000 metres, known for its tea gardens, the toy train and views of Kanchenjunga, one of the highest mountains in the world. The climate is cool and mountain-like: summers (April to June) are mild, the monsoon (June to September) is very wet with landslides, and winters (December to February) are cold with fog and occasional snow. The best seasons for racing are spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November), with the clearest mountain views. Expect hills and thin air. It is reached from Bagdogra airport and Siliguri by road.
