City insight: Coimbatore
Coimbatore is a city in western Tamil Nadu, at the foot of the Western Ghats, known for its textiles and industry, with a pleasant climate thanks to the Palakkad Gap breeze. Summers (March to May) are warm but rarely extreme, the monsoon is modest, and winters (December to February) are mild with cool mornings. October to February is the best time to race, with comfortable temperatures. The city has an international airport and good rail and road links to Kerala and Bengaluru.
