The Norris Ultra Dam Hard Trail Race offers 25K and 50K races starting at 8:00am at the pavilion near the Tea Room in Norris Dam State Park, Norris, TN.
Both races run on single track trails and jeep roads across Norris Dam State Park and Norris Municipal Watershed. Multiple aid stations are accessible by road for spectators and crew.
Limited edition series T-shirts are the same shirt as at all other Treadin’ Trodden Trails races. One shirt per runner per season, please. Taking multiple shirts reduces the money we can donate to trail friendly causes.
A deluxe finisher's medal is awarded to everyone who finishes the 25K or the 50K.
Aid and water stations are provided, but to be greener, please carry your own water. Aid station cups are very small. If you don't own a handheld, consider buying one.
If you are sensitive to insect stings or bites, carry your own medication. Train offroad before race day, as there is no substitute for experience.
The 25K has a 4:40 time limit and the 50K has a 9 hour time limit. 50K runners must reach halfway and leave the aid station within 4 hours to be allowed to go back out.
Norris Dam State Park has two campgrounds with water and electric hook-up and dump stations, plus Rustic and Deluxe cabins. Check the Norris Dam State Park website for details. Additional lodging is available at Exit 122 at I-75 and the Andersonville Hwy 61 junction.
The top 3 in each division win free race entries. Two lucky runners also win a pair of shoes in a drawing, thanks to the sponsorship of Runners Market. Awards are presented at the annual KTC Holiday Party in December.
To qualify for series awards and free shoes, you must be a KTC member and have volunteered two times during the trail race season.
Points are awarded for overall finish and volunteering at each TTT Series race. Top point earners at the end of the series (five each for male and female, under 40 and 40+) receive TTT Series awards. The overall top male and female, and top masters male and female, win a grand prize from our sponsors.
To qualify, you must be a current KTC member and volunteer at a minimum of two Treadin’ Trodden Trails events.
Results will be available on this RunSignup page under the Results link.
Contact KTC Trails Series Director Michael deLisle at [email protected] or 865.548.4718, or co-race directors Rebecca Holder at [email protected] or Doug Holder at [email protected].
Volunteer positions are on the respective race page at Runsignup.com. No experience is necessary. Volunteering is required for Grand Prix Rankings placement, and runners must volunteer for a minimum of 3 events to qualify for a Grand Prix award.
We reserve the right to disqualify anyone who shows unsportsmanlike conduct or is abusive to volunteers.
For insurance reasons, the following are not allowed on the course:
Runners under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult to run the adult race (not the kids mile). This applies for the rest of the season and moving forward.
The 18:00/mile minimum pace will be enforced. This has always been policy, but enforcement has been lax, which keeps volunteers in the woods longer than they should be. Each race will have a sweeper, and runners must move faster than 18:00/mile to stay in the race.
Only take a bib if you are running. If you take a bib and do not show up at the finish, we must search for you to make sure you are not lost or hurt.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not allowed for this race. There are no refunds or transfers.
Both races run on single track trails and jeep roads across Norris Dam State Park and Norris Municipal Watershed. The 25K is one loop and the 50K is two loops, on an identical course. Multiple aid stations are accessible by road for spectators and crew.
KTC puts the safety of participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Weather forecasts are monitored before the event, with attention to heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. Athletes will be informed of conditions on the KTC website (www.ktc.org), by e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and public address announcements.
The Executive Director and Race Director, consulting law enforcement, fire/EMS and other officials where available, decide whether to modify the race. Changes may include altering the start time or course, or cancelling the event.
Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by race personnel, medical staff, fire/paramedics or police.
Rocky Top is a city in Anderson and Campbell counties in eastern Tennessee, northwest of Knoxville. Formerly known as Coal Creek and Lake City, it had a population of 1,628 at the 2020 census and took its current name in 2014. Summers here are hot and humid, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
