About the race

The 6th annual This ain't your Mother's 50k & Trail Marathon is hosted by Sombrero Running Events in Middleburg, Florida, in the Jennings State Forest.

The Pioneer Trail is a hidden gem created in 2019, well maintained and mostly single track, with a few waterfalls, walkover stream crossings and several beautiful vistas along the Black Creek Ravines.

It is one of the most diverse trail systems you will find in Florida, with each section having its own style of terrain.

Awards

We will have overall top 3 in each race category and Masters Awards (starting at age 50).

We also will have our HIGHLY COVETED Slow A$$ awards for those that finish DFL in each division.

Aid stations and hydration

This will be a cup less race so everyone will need to bring their own hydration vest or handheld bottles for their hydration needs.

We will have several aid stations along the course at or about every 2.5 or 3 miles that will have both water and electrolyte nutrition (tailwind/skratch) as well as the standard fare for ultra distance races.

We will also have at least 1 porta pottie at the turnaround / drop bag site as well as the start / finish line.

Aid Station locations are marked on each of the trail maps we have in each of the individual race course descriptions.

Lodging

Beneficiaries

We give back to local organizations with our primary beneficiaries being the Friends of Florida State Forest so they can continued to maintain this beautiful trail we get the opportunity to play on!

We also give back to one of our community partners Foundations of Freedom which is a local 501c3 non profit that provides residential living for men to recover from drug/alcohol addictions.

We are a fierce advocate for the recovery community and we believe that if given the opportunity many people can and will recover from drug and alcohol addictions.

The Marathon is an out and back that starts at the Dunns Farm Trailhead on the Cross Cut section and then runs through Section 4, the 4 way junction, Mt. Reagan and the enchanted forest section to Indian Ford at the turnaround. The 12K follows the first 6 miles of the Marathon course and finishes on the Palmetto forest section. The 7K starts like the 12K on the pink Dunns Farm trail, loops to the Many Seeps Bridge and finishes on the new Sawyer trail.
