The Tennessee Mile is a timed looped race held on the hallowed ground known as The Murder Mile, home to the instant classic, the Mid-State Mile.
The race features a variety of timed divisions, and runners complete as many loops as they can within the allotted total time. The course is on private land just 20 minutes from downtown Franklin, TN.
The event is a strong training ground for runners who want to move up in the Mid-State selection process and learn how to approach Mid-State.
Runners may accept crew and aid anywhere on this course. Runners must bring their own setup. The large tents from Mid-State will not be available, though we may put up a couple. Plan on relying on you and your friends to create your setup.
All runners must provide their own aid. We will have water and electrolytes, but all nutrition must be provided by individuals.
The Tennessee Mile is a looped race, and runners are responsible for tracking their own loops. There is no time limit on your loop. Log as many or as few loops as you like.
Start times will be staggered among the divisions. The 8 hour division starts at midnight on Saturday night, not Friday. The 40 hour division starts Friday at 4 pm.
Other start times: the 24 hour and 12 hour divisions start at 8 am Saturday, the 6 hour at 12 pm Saturday, and the 3 hour at 10 am Saturday. The Youth 5K starts at 8:30 am and is for children 16 and under only. Adults may accompany them but cannot sign up for this division.
Pacing and company are different. Company is a friend or loved one joining you at a leisurely pace, walking with you for a lap or two. Company cannot pace you. Pacing means running with you mile after mile or swapping in and out, and it is only allowed once your division permits it.
Runners who receive pacing before it is allowed will be ineligible for placing. Taking advantage of this rule will result in disqualification. Please be reasonable and use common sense.
Important: This place is already home to plenty of animals, and they do not always want to play nice with others. We are a working farm surrounded by other working farms, and the neighboring livestock guardian dogs move freely across property lines while they work. That is their job, and we are not going to change it.
Any outside animal on the property requires advance coordination with us and with our neighbors. Do not plan on bringing a dog to the event without contacting us first. If you need to bring an animal, reach out well ahead of time, and we will be honest with you about what we can and cannot safely manage.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
There will be absolutely no refunds or deferrals.
The Tennessee Mile is a looped race. Runners track their own loops, and there is no time limit on a loop. The course is a 1.1 mile loop on private land with two monster climbs, fast runnable sections between them and a downhill section through the field to the start/finish area. It is an old logging road with a wide double track trail.
We will clean up the course well before race day.
