The SSSR is exactly what you would expect on coastal Georgia at the end of July. The air is so thick with moisture you can cut it with a knife and wear it like a long, heavy, soggy shawl.
You'll get no relief from the heat and humidity on this run. Snakes, alligators, horse flies, angry fiddler crabs and an occasional ragged, rabid looking raccoon add to the adventure.
Stay a while and wait for awards. There will be a waterslide from Richmond Hill Bounce and Slide to wash away the tears, lots of new friends, adult snow cones, and kid snow cones.
Dr Checo will be on hand to give info and a homebrew.
Race location: Savannah Ogeechee Canal, 681 Fort Argyle Rd, Savannah, GA 31419.
Proceeds from the race go toward the Savannah Ogeechee Canal museum and preservation of the trails. What we do is only a small portion of what needs to be done.
This is a technical trail through a historic Georgia swamp. There is sand, roots, more roots, some boardwalk, and palm sections. If it rains, there is mud and likely standing water to run through. The trail is a mixture of single track and narrow boardwalks, at times slick.

Savannah is a city and the county seat of Chatham County, Georgia, founded in 1733 on the Savannah River. It is the oldest city in the state, a former colonial capital, and an important Atlantic seaport known for its cobblestone streets and historic buildings. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
