The humid continental climate has cold, snowy and often prolonged winters, with nor'easters and snowstorms from November through early April, and warm but short summers, with July highs around 27 °C and few days above 32 °C. Rain falls year-round, slightly less in summer. Summer and early autumn are the best time to race, with comfortable temperatures. Winter racing means cold, snow and ice, so pack accordingly, and expect the odd summer thunderstorm.
