Pocatello Running Club announces the TENTH annual Over the Top Trail Race on May 8th, 2027. Over the Top is one of Pocatello, Idaho's most popular and beautiful singletrack trails in the City Creek Trail System.
The extensive network of pristine singletrack offers scenic overlooks, wildflowers, cacti, gentle rolling climbs, flowing switchbacks, and close proximity to town.
There are multiple distance options for all levels of runners. It can be a first laid-back trail experience, a Spring tune-up, or a speedy and competitive route.
Pocatello Running Club unites runners of every level of ability and interest. We are a member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), and our goal is to promote good health, friendship, camaraderie, and training options for all types of running events and runners.
Join our supportive trail community to celebrate spring running on some of our favorite trails.
Roll-overs are allowed; bib transfers are not.
The race takes place on the City Creek Trail System in Pocatello. Runners go Under the Top counterclockwise first, then Over the Top clockwise on the longer races. The Trail Half Marathon is a very challenging route, and the 30K has sneaky late-race hill climbs.
The 3 mile and 5 mile loops have become a 5K and a 10K. Distances were adjusted to reflect the true mileage, as trails have been updated and rerouted.
The two longer races have changed: the former 10++ mile race is now a true trail half marathon, and the former 25K is now a 30K loop. Both longer races go "Under the Top" counterclockwise first, then "Over the Top" clockwise.
Study the new map and choose your race.
Pocatello is the county seat of and largest city in Bannock County, in the southeastern part of Idaho, and it is the home of Idaho State University. It sits at 4,462 feet on the Portneuf River in the Snake River Plain, with a 2020 population of 56,320. Summers are hot and dry and winters are cold, so spring and early autumn are the best seasons to race.
