About the race

This November, join us for the Turkey Shuffle, a race set amidst the serene beauty of Texas parks and greenbelts.

As autumn paints the landscape with vibrant hues and the Texas heat takes a brief respite, participants can enjoy the fall colors and a well-organized, festive running experience.

DJ Sasquatch will keep the energy high with a playlist throughout the race. Every runner receives recognition and age group awards.

The shirt guarantee cutoff is 10 days before the event. After that date, if shirts remain, this page will be updated with a notice of availability, including size and quantity details.

Packet pickup policy

Packet pickup is always offered for 1.5 hours before the event start time. Any additional packet pickup will be emailed to all registered participants at least 1 week before the race.

Volunteer then run

Volunteer, then run the 5K. Includes a custom chip timed bib, super soft tee and finisher medal. Arrive 1.5 hours before race start to help with packet pickup. About 10 minutes before the start, join everyone at the starting line for warmup, then start with the starting gun. After the race, help hand out awards.

Limited to the first 5 sign-ups, for the 5K distance only. This option does not require signing up under the volunteer tab and does not include the Full Race Volunteer benefits.

Full race volunteer

Volunteers do not run in this race. Course Monitor and Aid Station volunteers earn a Bigfoot race shirt, a souvenir race medal (subject to availability), VIP race access, and a choice of a free race entry to a future event (for yourself or as a gift) or a $20 pre-paid digital gift card. Volunteers arrive 1.5 hours before start time and check in at the registration tent.

Positions

  • Water Station: Make sure water cups are filled and ready. A chill position with a vantage point to interact with participants. Feel free to bring a chair.
  • Course Monitor: Placed along the route at points that need extra attention for safety, such as crosswalks. Fun, exciting, in the middle of the action. Bring a radio, pom poms, signs or noise makers.
  • Finish Line Helper: Assist the Race Director with general finish line tasks. Easy and fun.
  • Turtle / Sweeper: Hang back with the last runner, encourage them, and signal when the final runner has passed so tear-down can begin. Slightly physically challenging; you run the longest distance for free.
  • Packet Pickup / Results: Near the start and finish lines, sharing in the joy of award presentations. A bit hectic for about 45 minutes before the race, then pretty chill.
  • Floater: General race help, such as handing out medals or helping with snacks. Super easy and fun, right in the action.
  • Lead Bike: Lead the first runner through the course on a bike or scooter. Fun and good exercise. Your duty ends shortly after the first long-distance runner finishes.
  • Bigfoot Mascot: Wear the provided Bigfoot costume, cheer on participants, and give high-fives. The coolest and most fun volunteer role, at the center of attention at the finish line.
