Newburyport is a coastal city in Essex County, Massachusetts, about 35 miles northeast of Boston, and a historic seaport that includes part of Plum Island. Its population was 18,289 at the 2020 census. The humid continental climate brings warm summers and cold winters, with cooling sea breezes along the coast, so late spring and early autumn are the best seasons to race.
