Local Veterans' organizations have joined together to create a healthy, fun 5K run/walk to help raise awareness of our organizations and what we do. All profits will be used to support the participating Veterans' organizations' operations and programs.
The walk/run is open to all ages and abilities. The event is held ahead of Veterans' Day.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsoring wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
The VFW mission is to honor the dead by helping the living through veterans' service, community service, national security and a strong national defense.
Prizes are awarded to top runners by age group and gender, and to the top male and female active military or veteran.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.
The run starts at VFW Post 1161 and ends at VFW Post 973.
Newburgh is a city in Orange County, New York, on the Hudson River about 60 miles north of New York City and near Stewart International Airport. Summers are warm and humid and winters are cold, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
