About the race
Join us for the 13th annual Grayson Highlands trail races!
Each distance takes runners on a beautiful and unforgettable adventure through Grayson Highlands State Park.
Packet pickup and start times
Friday
- Packet pickup 4-7PM (non-mandatory; pre-race packet pickup also available race day morning)
Saturday
- 50 Mile begins at 5:30AM
- 50k begins at 7:45 AM
Sunday
- 25k & 8 Mile begin at 8:30 AM
Awards
Awards go to the top three male and top three female finishers in all races.
Race benefits
The race in part benefits the park, local rescue squad and the friends group.
Swag not picked up
Swag not picked up
- We do not mail out swag that is ordered and not picked up at the race.
- A friend may pick up your shirt for you if you ordered one.
- Shirts not picked up will be donated to our race volunteers and state park staff.
What your entry includes
Cancellation policy
Effective 8/25/2026: no refunds, transfers, race credits or deferrals, except pregnancy, military obligations or death of an immediate family member. Otherwise volunteer 8 hours (50k or longer) or 6 hours (under 50k) at a Run Bum event. SPOT must be bought at checkout through UltraSignup.

Climbing and cut-offs
- 50 Mile: 7,500 ft ish of climbing, 16 hour cutoff
- 50k: 5,000 ft of climbing, 11 hour cutoff
- 25k: 2,300 ft of gain, 6 hour cutoff
- 8 Mile: 1,200 ft of gain, 4 hour cutoff

Location
City insight: Mouth Of Wilson
Mouth of Wilson is an unincorporated community in Grayson County, Virginia, just north of the North Carolina line, where Big Wilson Creek flows into the New River in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mountain weather brings cool nights and warm days in summer and cold, snowy winters, so late spring and early autumn are the best seasons to race.
