The 8th Annual Alumni Cross Country Race takes place at Holmdel Park on Saturday, November 14, 2026, with the 5K for men and women starting at 8:30 AM. Hosted by the Shore A.C., the race honors the late Bill Bruno, who was a coach, Athletic Director, and Assistant Director of the NJSIAA.
Runners can enter independently or as part of a team, and the race is open to all ages and abilities.
The first 150 entrants to sign up and show up will receive a unique Bill Bruno Alumni Run mug.
Parking is available on site in the first lot to your left, between the pavilion and the farm. Another lot is reached by taking the second left on the way up the start hill near the playground, and more parking is at the top of the start hill.
The race takes place before the NJ High School Meet of Champions races at 11 AM and Noon.
Results are chip timed with live results via Viper Timing.
Custom awards go to the top 3 female and male overall finishers, the top 3 female and male masters (40+) finishers, the top 3 female and male teams in each of the 3 categories, and the biggest overall team, presented near the finish line after all finishers are in.
Results will be posted at www.shoreac.org.
Proceeds benefit The Shore Athletic Club, a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to develop youth and teen track and field and long distance runners, activate the human spirit through competitive events for all ages and classes, and promote cross country, track and field, and long distance running as lifetime sports.
Bill Bruno was a big fan of the classic rock band The Who. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend founded Teen Cancer America, which is the charity partner for donations. Its mission is increasing survival and improving the lives of adolescent and young adults with cancer by transforming hospitals to better serve their needs.
Every dollar of your donation to Teen Cancer America will be sent directly to them.
New this year, runners aged 35 or older can access age graded performance information from their race efforts at www.yourtimeplus.com.
Entries are capped at 250 for 2026, after more than 200 entries last year.
Team competition in the 5K has three categories:
Scoring uses each team's top three runners, while a fourth or fifth runner can displace other teams. The top 3 teams in each category and the biggest overall team are awarded.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not available for this event. In unusual circumstances that prevent a registrant from attending, a deferral to the following year may be requested.
The 5K follows the traditional Holmdel Park cross country course. The 1 and 2 mile points are marked.
Holmdel is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, near Raritan Bay in the Raritan Valley Region. It is a regional commercial hub of Central Jersey, home to Bell Labs and the PNC Bank Arts Center, and a bedroom community of New York City. The climate is humid continental, with warm, humid summers and cold winters, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
