Hilo is the largest settlement in Hawaii County and the county seat of Hawaiʻi County, which covers the Island of Hawaiʻi in the state of Hawaii, United States. It had a population of 44,186 at the 2020 census and is the largest settlement in the state outside of Oahu, with views of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. The climate is tropical, warm year round, and frequently rainy, so the drier months from May to September are the best time to race.
