Dunedin is a city in Pinellas County on Florida's Gulf Coast, part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area, and its name comes from the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh. The city is home to several beaches, including Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island State Park. The subtropical climate is hot and humid from June through September, so the cooler, drier months from late autumn to spring are the best time to race.
