The 50-mile course is an out and back run almost entirely on the Pacific Crest Trail, and its direction changes each year. For 2027 it goes north to Frog Lake first, then south to Warm Springs. The 50K is also on the Pacific Crest Trail and includes a loop around Timothy Lake. The 25K is not on the Pacific Crest Trail; it uses the Headwaters and Old 1916 Trail before going around Timothy Lake.
The heavily shaded 50-mile course is mostly soft, with some technical sections of rocks and roots.
