Kilometers For The Kids is a hybrid race series from Carolina For The Kids, with an in-person race and a virtual option.
The event runs as an interactive weekend from November 12 to 15, and all proceeds directly benefit the patients and families of UNC Children's Hospital.
In-person and virtual participants may collect a race packet. Packets contain community business coupons, snacks and a For The Kids story. Fun Run packets include a themed activity, and 10K and 5K packets include an exclusive KFTK sticker.
If you cannot attend any of these dates, you can collect your packet on the morning of the race. Race-day pick-up is at the Old Well; arrive at 7am, 30 minutes before the start.
Register by October 16 to receive a free KFTK t-shirt in your packet.
If you are not in the Chapel Hill area, you can pay a small shipping fee to have your packet sent to you. All mailed packets include a KFTK shirt. 10K and 5K packets also include an exclusive sticker, and everyone receives a virtual For The Kids story and various coupons.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.
The in-person 5K and 1-mile Fun Run take place on November 15, 2026. The race starts at the Old Well on UNC's campus and runs through the university campus. Runners, joggers and walkers may choose either the one-mile Fun Run or the 5K. The virtual 5K and 10K can be completed any time between November 12 and 15, running, jogging or walking anywhere, with times recorded by the participant and results submitted online.
Chapel Hill is an incorporated municipality in Orange and Durham counties, North Carolina, founded in 1793 and centered on Franklin Street. It forms part of the Research Triangle with Raleigh and Durham and is home to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
