About the race

For the past 33 years, hundreds of runners and walkers have made their way to Burgettstown to kick off Thanksgiving Day with the Turkey Trot 5K Run & Fitness Walk. This year promises to be another memorable event.

Participants brave the unpredictable Pennsylvania weather, whether it's crisp and cold or surprisingly warm, and take on the infamous final climb known as "the hill" before crossing the finish line back at the school.

Your participation directly supports the Burgettstown Cross Country and Track & Field programs, helping fund uniforms, meet fees, and training essentials for student-athletes. The kids you're supporting will be there, cheering you on and pulling names for thank-you prize giveaways.

Come celebrate the season with friends, family, and fellow runners at one of the region's most beloved Thanksgiving Day traditions. Whether you're racing for a PR or enjoying a morning walk, you're making a difference in the lives of our student-athletes.

City insight: Burgettstown

Burgettstown is a borough in northwestern Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States, and part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. It had a population of 1,424 at the 2020 census and is home to the Pavilion at Star Lake, a large outdoor amphitheater nearby. The climate is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold winters, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
