About the race
The Speedway in Lights 5K returns for its 16th year on Sunday, Nov. 15, when more than 1,000 festive participants will be the first to tour the region's largest and most dazzling holiday lights display when the endurance race begins at 6 p.m.
The run/walk event will wind through the new Speedway In Lights course, updated for 2026 with 40 new displays.
Registration dates and deadlines
Online registration opens February 25 and closes November 8. After that, participants may register on-site on the day of the event.
Entry for young children
Children 3 and under are free (T-shirt and ornament not included).
Cancellation policy
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.
The course
The 5K begins near the track's Entrance No. 2 beside the BMS South Building and loops up and back down the historic quarter-mile Bristol Dragway. It then returns to the high-banked oval, entering the stadium at the pit gate. Runners turn left down the backstretch, run counterclockwise, and cross the finish line just before Turn 2.
