The Amanda Pair Foundation exists to overcome cancer. It is named for Amanda Pair, a beloved wife, mother, friend, and community member who courageously battled lung cancer until it took her life at the age of 40 in June 2022.
The Foundation knows Amanda represents millions of individuals and families who have experienced the same pain, and this fuels its work to embody Amanda's bold spirit as it stands with those who are still fighting.
The majority of the proceeds from the Legacy Run will fund a memorial scholarship created in Amanda's memory by the Foundation and the Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park PTO. The Foundation's approach to overcoming cancer rests on three pillars: caring for families, funding research, and investing in the next generation.
The Alabama Race Series is a collection of running events dedicated to making a lasting impact across Alabama through the power of sport. By partnering with charitable organizations throughout the state, the series brings together runners, families, volunteers, and supporters to create meaningful experiences while raising awareness and funds for causes that strengthen Alabama communities.
Amanda volunteered with the VHELP PTO for many years, including serving as PTO President during the 2020-2021 school year. The scholarship is awarded annually to a senior VHELP alumni at VHHS who exemplifies the rebel spirit with a servant heart, and it will be available each year through 2035.
Parking will be available at Liberty Park Middle School. Online donations can be made at AmandaPair.org or directly through runsignup.com for those who cannot participate but still want to contribute.
Athletes can cancel their registration, but no refund is given.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.
The Legacy Run is a family-friendly 5K and 10K open to walkers and runners of all ages. The race is held in Liberty Park and loops around the community, beginning and ending at Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park. A 1 mile family run and walk is also offered.
Birmingham is a city in north central Alabama and the county seat of Jefferson County, and it is the state's third-most populous city. It was founded in 1871 during the Reconstruction era through the merger of three smaller communities, most notably Elyton. The climate is humid subtropical, with long, hot summers and mild winters, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
