Artesia is a city in Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico, centered where U.S. routes 82 and 285 meet, with the two highways serving as its Main Street and First Street. The 2020 census counted 12,875 residents. Summers are hot and dry with large swings between day and night temperatures, so early spring and late autumn are the best seasons to race.
