Albuquerque is the most populous city in New Mexico and the county seat of Bernalillo County. Founded in 1706 as La Villa de Alburquerque, it sits in the Albuquerque Basin, flanked by the Sandia Mountains to the east and the West Mesa to the west, with the Rio Grande running through the middle. The high desert climate brings hot summers and mild, sunny conditions, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
