Albany is a city in Southwest Georgia, United States, and the county seat of Dougherty County, sitting on the Flint River. It is the principal city of the Albany metropolitan area, and it grew in the nineteenth century as a shipping and market center served by riverboats and railroads. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters, so spring and autumn are the best seasons to race.
