City insight: Basel
Basel is a city in northwestern Switzerland on the Rhine, the country's third most populous and often called its cultural capital, with dozens of museums. It has a temperate oceanic climate with cool, overcast winters and warm, humid summers. Rain or snow falls on about 118 days a year, and May is the wettest month, with February the driest. Late spring and early autumn are the best seasons to race, with milder temperatures. Summer can feel warm and humid, so carry water, and bring layers and rain gear in winter and May.
